Ketchikan Alaska - Must See To Believe
Ketchikan Alaska - Must See To Believe
Ketchikan, Alaska is a small town with a big personality. Founded in 1900, this town of just over 8,000 people is located in the southeastern corner of the state, nestled between towering mountains and the pristine waters of the Inside Passage. Ketchikan is known for its abundant wildlife, its rich Native culture, and its stunning scenery. It has long been a favorite destination for outdoor enthusiasts and travelers from all over the world. In recent years, however, the town has been making headlines for a different reason: its rapidly declining economy.
Ketchikan was once a thriving community, fueled by the timber industry and fishing.
But as the timber industry has declined, so has the town's economy. Today, Ketchikan is struggling to find its footing. The local economy is reliant on tourism, but the town has been hit hard by the recession. In an effort to bring in more tourists and boost the economy, the town has been marketing itself as the "gateway to the Alaska wilderness." In the last few years, Ketchikan has been featured in a number of news stories, both good and bad. In 2014, the town made headlines when a cruise ship carrying over 500 passengers ran aground near Ketchikan. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.
But the town made headlines again in 2016, this time for a much more positive reason. In July of that year, Ketchikan was named one of the "Top 10 Coolest Small Towns in America" by Budget Travel magazine. The town was praised for its "spectacular scenery," its "rich Native culture," and its "friendly locals."Despite its struggles, Ketchikan is a town with a lot to offer. It's a place where you can find yourself in the middle of nowhere, yet still, be surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. It's a place where you can learn about a rich culture and history, and meet some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Ketchikan may be facing some challenges, but its future is bright.
